Highchair recall

A high chair distributor is voluntarily recalling three popular high chair models.

CNP Brands has become aware that in some circumstances, the plastic casing at the top of the chair leg or the seat of the chair may possibly develop cracks or break in products that are placed under extreme torsion or have been used for over two years.

The models included in the voluntary recall are:

  • Childcare Pod High Chair ‘Natural’ – MODEL # 095100-018, 095100-386
  • Bebecare Pod Nui High Chair ‘Snowflake’ – MODEL # 095102-378
  • Childcare Coda High Chair ‘Jet’ and ‘Citrino’ – MODEL # 044370-143, 044270-382

Voluntary high chair recall

The affected chairs were sold nationally in Australia between 13 January 2016 to 2 November 2018 through the following retailers:

  • Big W
  • Baby Bunting (online only)
  • Target
  • Baby Junction
  • Amazon (online only)
  • catch.com.au (online only).

Thankfully, no children have been injured using these products, but CNP Brands say the products aren’t meeting their high standards.

“We recognise and take very seriously that a small proportion of high chairs identified are not meeting our customers, nor our own very high standards for our products as they age,” the company said in a press release.

“The fault is limited to the specified models only.”

What should parents do?

Check the barcode. Consumers in possession of the Childcare Pod High Chair ‘Natural’, Bebecare Pod Nui High Chair ‘Snowflake’, and Childcare Coda High Chair ‘Jet’ and ‘Citrino’ should check to see if they have a faulty product by matching one of the above barcodes with one below the plastic seat of their high chair or the box it came in.

Register the product. If you find that you are in possession of an affected high chair, go to www.safetymatterscnp.com.au and register your ownership of the unit.

Install a cross-brace kit. Once registered, a supportive cross-brace kit for eligible high chairs, designed to strengthen the structure, will be sent to parents with installation instructions free of charge.

Avoid using the chair. In addition, parents should stop using the chair until the cross-brace kit has been installed.

For more information about the recalls, parents can visit www.safetymatterscnp.com.au for more detailed information.

Alternatively, consumers can contact CNP Brands directly on 1800 074 973 (Australia) or productsafety@cnpbrands.com.au for support and/or additional information.
