This is worth the investment for a breastfed baby versus the standard Medela test that comes with the bottle and breast pump. It seems to have a slower output and require a more natural sucking action. I managed to use this teat for top ups and eventually get baby back to just breastfeeding rather than expressed bottles. This teat was recommended to me by a midwife/lactation consultant as I was express breastmilk feeding due to a latch issue. My daughter was able to latch on to this teat better than the other brand we had at home and it encouraged her to latch and suck. It is expensive for a teat but I think it is worth it for mums switching between breast and bottle or for newborns with latch issues. Read Less

Purchased this as I was exclusively breastfeeding and all the reviews stated this was the best teat for back and forth between bottle and boob. I actually found this teats flow to still be too fast and my son would frequently choke. Maybe he just had a super strong latch? Ended up using the normal Medela teats which he still chokes on, but atleast they are cheaper. Read Less

Q: Why is Calma available in only 1 size?
A: Multiple nipple sizes are not required as the baby controls the flow of milk through vacuum. The baby will apply more or less vacuum to Calma as its need for milk changes throughout breastfeeding duration.
Q: Can Calma only be used with breast milk?
A: Calma has been designed to be exclusively used with breast milk and as such we cannot attest to Calma being used with other food.
Q: Can Calma be used with other manufacturer's bottles on the market?
A: Calma has been designed to be used with Medela's bottles and containers. We have not done testing on other manufacturer's containers. You may find that you can thread Calma onto other bottles but you may find that this combination may leak or cause other issues. We do not recommend using Calma with any other manufacturer containers.
