My baby was premature and her first time sucking was with a bottle, so it didn't tire her as much. She grew so accustomed to the plastic feeling in her mouth that she could not attach naturally. The lactation consultant recommended that we use a medela nipple shield to help with the process of getting her to latch. This worked well!

I used these nipples shields for both my breastfeeding journeys with boys, I struggled with latching them both and this was recommended by my midwife. I used it for a while I liked that it helped with latching at times but it also would pop off sometimes or was hard to put on. It definitely helped more with my second son than with my first. It continued my journey for a little while until I had to give up due to my milk supply. Pretty good product but does have its weaknesses.
