Buying guide: what you need to know
Travelling with kids? You’ll need a travel pram. A travel pram is lighter, and more compact than a traditional pram or stroller, which will be a lifesaver while on holidays.
Here are some features parents should look for when buying a pram for their next trip.
Lightweight
For obvious reasons, you want your pram to be lightweight – especially if you are flying. You’re not going to get very far if you’re lugging a heavy stroller around as well as everything else that you need for your little ones.
Compact
If you’re flying to your holiday destination, it’s possible to buy a pram that can fold up small enough to take on as carry on luggage. Remember that if you do take a pram on board with you, it will count towards your baggage allowance – but it might be worth it. Each airline has its own baggage allowance rules, so make sure you check with them before turning up on the day.
Safety
Safety is just as important for a travel pram as it is for a regular one. Make sure the product meets Australian safety standards and features a five-point harness to keep your baby safe.
Option to recline
When travelling with a baby or toddler you can almost count on the fact that they’ll need a nap on the go at some point. Keep in mind that not all strollers recline. If sleep is on the cards – double check your travel stroller comes with the option to recline.
Sun protection
