I’ve used the Owlet Care Sock v3 for a couple of months when my daughter was a baby, and I’m still using the camera now that she’s almost three.
The camera and app are excellent quality. The video is clear, the app is easy to use, and I love being able to check the room temperature and record using an SD card. Even now, I use it daily for naps and overnight, and I find it really reassuring that I can check in on her when I'm not home.
The sock itself didn’t end up being useful for my baby, so I stopped using it after a couple of months. However, it did give me peace of mind in the newborn stage as a first time mum.
Value for money really depends on whether the sock suits your baby. If it does, it’s probably worth it. If not, it’s an expensive product, but the camera alone has been worth continuing to use long term.
I’d recommend it to a friend, especially a first time mum, with the understanding that the sock doesn’t work for every baby.

As first time parents and nurses we initially didn’t want a device like this as we didn’t want to medicalise our baby or cause ourselves extra anxiety. We had also heard of false alarms freaking parents out. However when our baby ended up hospitalised at one week old and coming home on oxygen we were given an owlet sock by a friend and honestly it’s the only way we have been able to sleep each night since! We haven’t had any false alarms and we know it will only alert us if she has a true event, not just a bit of foot wiggling. It gives us peace of mind that if she has an apnoea we’ll know about it and don’t need to watch her like a hawk all night. It’s also good to check what her sats have been overnight to reassure us that her oxygen is doing its job. Definitely a time and place for these kinds of devices but we have no regrets in using one for our family.

I was very hesitant to buy the owlet sock while pregnant. Being a first time mum I bit the bullet and I’m so glad I did. We have had the red alarm go off 3 times which I’ve never got out of bed quick enough (once was while Bub was feeding at a few days old, and once was it had come completely off bub’s foot). It also made my anxiety a bit easier when Bub moved to his own room at 6months of age. Highly recommend!
