I love a baby gate purely for the peace of mind they can bring however I have mixed feelings about this particular gate because although it is a necessary requirement in our household, so far it has damaged our walls in the 2 houses we have installed this gate in.
We have followed the instructions on both occasions however in order for the gate to stand up and remain firm enough to hold the weight of baby leaning on it, it's got to be screwed fairly tightly which has created indents in the walls and the foam buffers (ironically designed to stop the aforementioned from happening) also pull the paint off the wall. So if your a renter, this is one thing I would keep in mind.
We have rectified this in the interim by inserting some neoprene in between the gate and the wall, however the gate just slips and needs regularly adjustment. So not an ideal solution but gets the job done.
This works best in door frames over hallways and it can hold baby holding onto it. So far our little one hasn't been able to open it or close it shut fully (when they are allowed through it).
This gate is more effective at child proofing than other mesh options on the market as baby (and dogs!) can crawl underneath those.
We have had our gate for about 6 years now and it's stood the test of time, with some minor rusting, however nothing else has broken or been damaged even after daily use in a high traffic area of the home. So I would say it is good value for money.

This extra wide gate fits out stairway well. Even though we have glass staircase it fitted well without much trouble. It does get a bit loose from time to time and we need to tighten it with those rounds knobs at the end. So far it does the job well. Opening is not too easy and sometimes I struggle when bub in my arms but its ok. The only thing I am afraid is its not as sturdy as I thought (may be because of the design of my stairs) and once bub is bit older he may knock the whole thing down.

The gate is fine it does it’s job. Keeps baby in and safe. I do personally find it annoying when it’s not it use to assemble and take down its a bit painful. Personally I like the retractable gates better that secure to the wall. We have both. I wouldn’t purchase this again for that reason but the product itself is fine
