I wanted to love these, but just didn’t unfortunately.

They seem like they’re going to be the perfect spoon for babies to use however, that wasn’t our experience. Theyre an awkward shape for little mouths. Food doesn’t stick well to the side with the holes on it. Purées dropped straight out and food (like steamed pumpkin) didn’t quite stay on the spoon.

My bub didn’t like eating from the other side either. I’m assuming because it wasn’t smooth, but I’m not sure why as he loves the other Tommee tippee self feeding spoons!

I also found it a little difficult to teach what side goes in his mouth and food as it was a spoon from both ends..

I absolutely love these spoons, unlike the others we have used, no matter which end goes in the mouth or which side let's licked, baby is always getting something off the spoon. It takes a bit of getting used to loading a flat spoon, but these are by far the most efficient self feeding utensils we have tried

I bought these as my bubs first spoon/feeding utensil. I was happy with it, it was a good shallow first spoon when not wanting big mouthfuls yet, the length, short but not super short just about a cm shorter than the about the length of a average silverware teaspoon and handle where easy enough for littlies to hold and get to their mouths but also for an adult to feed them with, they super easy to clean and durable so gave it 4 stars.
But there was one thing that stopped me giving 5 stars.
These were:
- The slotted end: I as was under the impression this would work from the earliest initial foods like fruit and veg purees or runny oatmeal etc but found they didn't stick to it at all (I think because the slots are to wide and not textured ) I found it only worked/works with very thick food e.g. roughly fork mashed root vegetables, thick polenta etc which are not initial foods. However, maybe my expectations were a greater than should have been and it does serve some purpose a little later on.
- The stiffness/material used for majority of the spoon. Although I was not after a super bendy spoon and the aqua coloured sections have some flexibility I think because of it not having a bit more of a neck on in that material it doesn't really bend enough which makes it hard to get food into it off edge's of the bowl or container especially for littlies but even takes some effort for adults.

Tips:
-I did give spoon to bub to explore before even started feeding just to try to have a chew on and I think this helped just getting used to holding it, having it in mouth etc even though wasn't particularly interested in chewing on it as most of it's actually quite hard plastic bar the silicon rims (the aqua coloured bits).
-When I bought this I think it was relatively new to the market so full priced which is still relatively reasonable compared to some however I think weaning products etc are often very expensive for what you get. But I now often see these advertised on sale with quite decent discounts so if on a budget keep an eye out or look around online.
