How to get kids excited about brushing their teeth

Share it

Getting your kids excited about brushing their teeth just got a whole lot easier thanks to a video shared on social media.

7 Days Of Play posted a video on their Tik Tok account giving parents a genius craft idea that will hopefully get your kids excited about cleaning their pearly whites.

What you’ll need

You’ll need some paper, contact, dry erase erasers and a toothbrush.

First, “Draw a big mouth and cover it in sticky paper,” the video says. (Or you can download their print out here).

Next, “Use dry erase markers to make the teeth dirty or write letters and numbers on each tooth to make it a learning game.”

Then using an old toothbrush, let your kids scrub away at the teeth.

Voila! A fun craft that will have your kids running to the bathroom to brush their teeth, we’re sure.

“Love it”

The reaction to the video has been mostly positive, with lots of parents saying they’re keen to try this activity with their kids.

“I think we need to show this to someone,” said one commenter tagging their partner.

Another said, “Love this. So clever.”

Another added: “I’ve done this many times and get them to use shaving cream for toothpaste.”

More tips to make brushing easier

If you’re reading this then there’s a good chance your toddler isn’t a fan of brushing their teeth. If the craft doesn’t work, the Raising Children Network has some other ideas.

  • Find a song to sing while brushing. (The Wiggles have an app that sings a fun 2-minute long toothbrushing tune – it’s available for Android and iPhone.)
  • Pretend the toothbrush is a train.
  • Enlist the help of a favourite toy for your toddler to play with while you brush their teeth, or get them to brush the toy’s teeth as you do theirs.
