Urgent recall of popular IKEA plates and cups

Most parents have a set of IKEA’s brightly coloured bowls, plates and cups in the cupboard – after all, they’re perfect for picnics, camping, even kids’ snacks at home. (The KALAS range is super popular on Tell Me Baby, with a 4.8 star rating and over 150 reviews!)

However one popular range, while displaying the usual IKEA flair, is now being urgently recalled due to fears of causing serious burns and scalding.

Which plates, cups and bowls?

The two product ranges that are currently being recalled are Heroisk and Talrika.

IKEA is asking all customers who bought the Heroisk and Talrika plates, bowls or mugs between August 2019 and May 2021 online or instore to stop using them immediately.

The go-to home furniture company has taken the products off the shelves and put out an immediate urgent recall.

What’s the issue?

The hidden danger of these particular items is that they can break when holding hot liquids, causing possible harmful burns and scalding injuries. According to IKEA, they have received reports of breakages, “potentially causing burns due to hot contents”.

Anyone who has one of these items has been asked to return it to any of IKEA’s stores to receive a full refund. No receipt is necessary.
