Vintage baby names have made a massive comeback in the last few years, but mainly for girls. That is – until now.
According to Nameberry, Alice and Violet and Beatrix are just some of the vintage girls’ names that have seen a recent revival. And while they’re considered old-fashioned, the naming site says they’re still very cool.
When it comes to boys, it’s taken a little longer for vintage or ‘old man’ names (as some like to call them) to return to the spotlight. Names like Arthur, Hugo and Theodore are all making their way back up the baby names charts at great speeds.
McCrindle’s latest baby name report says over the last two years Theodore has jumped 14 spots on the naming charts, while Arthur is up 11 spots. And since 2010, Hugo is up 53 spots.
If you’re looking for a baby name that’s a bit ‘old man’ but not as popular (yet), Nameberry came up with a list that is definitely worth your time.
“These are our top contenders for the next vintage comeback kid. They still feel old-fashioned, or even a little fusty – but charmingly so,” they write.
