    Community Questions

A: It's characterised by small yellowish crusty patches, greasy to the touch, on their scalp or top of their face. Sometimes the scale can also spread to your baby’s eyebrows and behind his ears. Some babies even get it on their torsos. The scale or crust might have an oily texture. It’s difficult to peel off. Cradle cap won’t bother your baby.
A: No, it is caused by an overproduction of sebum (skin oil). Sebum traps the dead cells on the skin’s surface, leading to the formation of crusty patches.
A: No cradle cap is not contagious
A: Whilst cradle cap can look red and crusty there is no evidence to suggest that your baby is aware of its presence or that it is causing discomfort or pain.
