We had one of these when my son was born and it was super handy! Tells the temperature of the room with a colour indication which helps figuring out how to dress baby to avoid them being cold or too hot. It’s a dull colour so it doesn’t keep the room lit up too much.

Super helpful to know what tog rating sleepsack to dress them in. Not only does it display the temp in large numbers that you can quickly glance at and see the temp but the colour of the egg changes within temp ranges. So blue for cold yellow for average and red for hot. It’s good to get a quick indication too.
Because the whole egg lights up you can use it as a nightlight in the room as well, and if you don’t like the light you can turn it off or adjust it to one of the dimmer settings.

I used the gro egg for the first few weeks in our room to easily tell if the temperature was suitable for bubs at a glance. This allowed us to find the aircon range that suited best (as bub was born in summer in South East QLD do it was super hot at night). It was also really handy as a nightlight during night time feedings meaning I could easily feed bub without waking her right up by turning on another light. It is also going to be so handy when bub transitions to her nursery as I will be able to poke my head in her room and see at a glance if the room is too hot or too cold.
As others have said not a must have but very handy. Would be perfect if it came with a white noise feature.
