Strollers sold at Kmart and Target recalled over defect

Share it

A series of strollers have been recalled after a fault was identified with the rear axle.

CNP Brands said in a media release that a small batch of their Childcare-brand strollers, sold nationally through Target and Kmart, “are not meeting our customers’, nor our own, very high standards for our products.”

When the strollers are overloaded or used on a rough surface, the rear axle may snap.

“Consumers are advised that in some circumstances, the rear axle of the Childcare Zeke Stroller ‘Navy’, Childcare Soho Stroller ‘Black’ and Childcare Stroller ‘Grey’ stroller may break, causing one of the wheels to become removed from the stroller if used improperly,” said the media release.

The company adds that there haven’t been any reports of children being injured as a result of using these products.

Is my stroller affected?

If you have a Childcare Zeke Stroller (navy), Childcare Soho Stroller (black) or Childcare Stroller (grey) you should do the following:

  • Identify if you have an affected unit by reviewing the product details beside the barcode on the frame of the stroller, or the box.
  • If you believe that your stroller is affected, stop using the stroller and go to www.safetymatterscnp.com.au and register ownership of an affected unit.
  • Once registered, a new rear axle and wheels unit will be sent to you, with installation instructions, at no cost.
  • Dispose of the old axle and wheels.
