It’s been at the top of the name charts for years, but Charlotte has had it’s time in the sun and is no longer number one. Well, in New South Wales anyway.
After being the most popular name for three years, Charlotte dropped to third place in 2020, The Daily Telegraph reports.
So which name has taken its spot? Amelia!
Jumping up a few spots from number four to first place, Amelia is now the most popular girls’ name.
Following closely behind Amelia is Olivia, then Charlotte Isla, Mia, Ava, Chloe, Grace, Sophia and Zoe.
Zoe was a new one to join the top ten in 2020, while Ella dropped further down.
Not much changed in 2020 when it comes to boys’ names, with Oliver being the top choice for the seventh year in a row. In second place was Noah, followed by William, Leo, Lucas, Henry, Liam, Jack, Thomas and James.
Ethan fell from the top ten, while Liam made its way back in.
At the end of of last year, BabyCenter in the US compiled a list of the most popular baby names for 2020 so far and things look a little different over there compared to in Australia.
