5 Clever Formula Hacks To Make Your Life Easier

Share it

While we’re extremely lucky to have a safe alternative to breastfeeding here in Australia, there are some challenges parents face when making up bottles of formula for their bubs. Here are five clever formula hacks from TikTok that might make your life a little easier:

1. Brilliant DIY scoop holder

Not all formula tins are created equal, and while some have a place to pop the scoop, others don’t. That’s where this hack comes in handy. Grab a sharp knife and transform the foil into a handy scoop holder! Watch the video below to see how it’s done.

2. What the ledge on the tin is for

A mum has taken to TikTok to share what the ledge on the formula tin is for (so you can level off your formula scoop before putting it in the bottle). While lots of mums commented saying they already knew this, we thought we’d throw it in, just in case.

3. Gas drops to remove bubbles

Shaking a bottle is the best way to mix formula, but doing so creates lots of bubbles. For some babies, this means gas. A mum shared how you can shake your bottle and minimise the number of bubbles: gas drops! We tried this tip with some Infants’ Friend and definitely noticed a decrease in bubbles.

4. How to stop you from losing count of your scoops

If you’ve ever lost count of how many scoops you’re up to when making a bottle of formula for your baby, you aren’t alone. That’s where the Clevamama formula scoop comes in handy. This genius product can be adjusted so you don’t have to count out multiple scoops. Just set it and scoop!

You can also try this formula hack: prepare to have multiple milk scoopers, depending on how many scoops you need.

5. Make pitchers at a time

According to the Raising Children website, it’s okay to make formula bottles up in advance and store them in the fridge. Just make sure you consume it within 24 hours. Even better, you can make up a pitcher of formula, as this mum does.

Another hack that can save baby formula from being wasted is what they call the “Top Up Method”. If your baby tends to not finish an entire bottle, this method is a must try.

Never Waste Baby Formula Again! 🙌🏻 One of the most frequently asked questions by new parents is how to make a bottle of baby formula with an odd amount of ounces! Well, here are TWO baby feeding hacks for new parents! 1. The “Top-Up Method” Make an even amount of ounces that is MORE than your baby drinks, and then pour out the excess into a sealed container and pop it into the fridge (it’s good in there for up to 24 hours)! Then later, make an even amount of ounces that is LESS than what your baby drinks, and add the saved amount from the fridge! 2. The Pitcher Method Make a large batch of formula that will last you all day long, and pour your odd amounts from there! It’s good in the fridge for 24 hours! #babyformula #formulafeeding #parentingtips #babysafety #formulafeedingmom
