What if we told you there was a new baby singlet that can make dressing your bundle of joy easier? That’s right – no struggling to get it over your newborn’s head or grappling to get tiny arms through the holes!
Well, it’s true. Created by Nine sports reporter Erin Molan, the singlet, called Baby Singlets by Erin, wraps around bub instead of forcing them through.
There’s also a version especially for premmies and babies who end up in NICU, with extra openings to help deal with tubes and cords.
Genius!
Erin said she came up with the idea after her daughter Eliza was born. Getting her dressed every day into a singlet was becoming a nightmare.
“When we had Eliza, and it sounds so silly because it shouldn’t be that hard to put a baby singlet on, but we really struggled in getting them over her head and it felt like having to dislocate her arms,” Erin told 9Honey Style.
After speaking to other parents, Erin soon realised this was a common problem. She set out to find a baby singlet that opened at the front, with no such luck.
Undeterred, Erin took some of Eliza’s singlets to a tailor, asking them to add zippers and buttons, so they wrapped around her.
“It seriously changed our lives! We could wrap Eliza in a singlet rather than go over her head. It made such a difference for us that I decided I wanted to create these for everyone,” Erin told the Daily Mail.
“And so started a long journey of prototypes and testing to finally reach our end product.”
Now Erin says so happy to be able to make “life a little bit easier” for parents.
“You literally just open them up, lie them flat, lay the baby on top and button them up, and that’s it,” she explains to 9Honey Style.
The singlets come in cotton or bamboo versions, and the special premmie singlet has extra press stud openings at the shoulder to allow easier access for tubes and hospital cords.
