I had always been cautious of using cot bumpers due to SIDS safe guidelines however after having 2 very scary incidents where my daughter’s foot got stuck in the cot rails I decided to try the Airwrap Mesh. After doing a lot of research I felt safe using this product.
The use to traditional fabric cot bumpers with ties is not recommended due to the risk of SIDS. So I had never considered using a cot bumper. But a friend recommended this product to me as a safer alternative. I liked that it was obviously made from breathable mesh with Velcro fastenings rather than ties. It has been lab tested for safety.
I honestly can’t think of any cons to the Airwrap Mesh. The only thing is that I only used it for about 6 months, from the time she started moving around a lot in the cot, to when she was old enough to know not to stick her legs out the cot. However it could be used longer.
Some advice when washing this product would be to ensure the Velcro is stuck together before washing to avoid it sticking and pulling on the rest of the mesh.
I feel that it was definitely worth the $40 for the peace of mind. I will use it again for my next baby. It could also be sold second hand as it keeps in excellent condition. I did only use mine for about 6 months, however it could be used longer.
I would totally recommend the Airwrap Mesh to anyone who has issues with their child getting their arms or legs stuck in the cot rails. It doesn’t provide padding to the rails so is not recommended for that purpose. It does also really help keep dummies inside the cot if you are having issues with them always falling out. I feel this is a much safer product compared to traditional fabric cot bumpers that aren’t breathable and have fabric ties.
