Understanding Baby Formula Proteins

Whey and casein are the two main types of protein found in milk. Pregnancy Birth & Baby says, “Your baby’s first formula should usually be one that contains whey protein as the main type of protein.”

However, while whey is the dominant protein in both of these formulas, both Nan Comfort and Nan Optipro contain casein, which can be hard for babies to digest.

While many parents said this formula is gentle on the tummy, a couple said their baby was constipated at first; however, they would still recommend this product. Another parent said their baby wasn’t settled on this formula.
